Your new role
Our client is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead the estimating process for general contracting projects. This role involves preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients. You will ensure that all estimates align with project specifications, budgets, and timelines, contributing to the overall success of each project.

Responsibilities will include:

Leading the preparation of detailed cost estimates for general contracting projects, from initial inquiry through to final tender submission.

Reviewing and interpreting project plans, drawings, and specifications to create accurate and comprehensive cost estimates.
*

Conducting site visits and attending pre-tender meetings to assess the scope of work and gather necessary information.
*

Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure cost-effective solutions and accurate pricing.
*

Evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotes, negotiating prices, and preparing subcontractor agreements.
*

Identifying potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.
*

Preparing and presenting tender submissions to clients, ensuring clarity and competitive pricing.
*

Supporting the bid management process and assisting with post-tender negotiations.
*

Managing and mentoring junior estimators, providing guidance and support where necessary.
*

Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project delivery.
*

Monitoring project costs throughout the tendering process, making adjustments as needed to ensure profitability.

What you will need to succeed:

A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (MRICS status or equivalent is highly desirable).
*

Extensive experience as an Estimator in general contracting, with a strong background in preparing cost estimates for commercial, industrial, or residential projects.
*

Proven track record of delivering accurate estimates for a wide range of projects, including large-scale general contracting schemes.
*

Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.
*

Proficiency in using estimating software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
*

Strong negotiation skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
*

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
*

Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
